These driven young leaders will showcase their experiences in the program and in Calgary with the Youth Volunteer Program and will discuss the events they have participated in. Parents, teachers, counselors, and members of community organizations will learn about the unique qualities of this program. Refreshments will be provided as well as opportunity for guests to ask questions and engage in discussions with the youth volunteers.

Since July 1st, 2010, the Youth Volunteer Program has been helping youth volunteer in Calgary, and they have contributed over 1300 hours so far. The program has worked to raise awareness within Calgary and area about the needs as well as the skills that immigrant youth bring with them from their home countries, helping to increase cultural awareness/cultural competency  throughout the community. Activities have included volunteering with the Mustard Seed and helping with a Stampede Breakfast at Hull Child and Family Services. Youth are given training in life and job skills as well as focusing on Canadian rights and responsibilities such as volunteering.  Immigrant Services Calgary is pleased to continue to support the growth of the young leaders of tomorrow.
