Emmanuel Udoh – Volunteer of the Month for November 2022

Emmanuel Udoh immigrated to Canada with his family in 2019. He loves helping others and supporting good causes. When he learned about Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) and our work in the community, he knew he wanted to be a part of the volunteer team, so he applied shortly after.

Most recently, Emmanuel has been contributing his time and effort to our Healthy Start program – a free program for pregnant women, parents, and caregivers with babies. He has always been willing to assist clients in need of support, offering to deliver infant essential packages to families, regardless of their location.

We are so thankful to Emmanuel for his valuable contributions, positive attitude, and support for newcomer families! This is his story:

"My favourite thing about volunteering is the act of selflessness and being able to act and support people in a way that adds value to their life or situation. It is humbling and satisfying, and I count each opportunity as a privilege.

I am honoured to be nominated as the volunteer of the month. ISC has an excellent reputation in the Calgary community for providing support to newcomers by providing settlement, career, and related services.

I intend to continue to serve as a volunteer with ISC and remain a part of this awesome team in supporting newcomers to integrate and build a meaningful life in Calgary."

“Emmanuel is an outstanding volunteer and makes a positive impact on our Healthy Start Calgary program and the families we serve. He is always willing to assist those who need help, offering to deliver infant essential packages to families in need, making their life easier. Respect, reliability, punctuality, and his positive attitude are just some of Emmanuel’s virtues. For these reasons and more, Emmanuel deserves to be honored with this month's nomination.”
