Homework Club (Tutoring) Volunteering Opportunity!

Calgary Neighbourhoods and Immigrant Services Calgary are looking for 15 volunteers to help children with homework support. The children’s age varies, but most children attend Kindergarten to Grade 6. This program runs on a school semester basis.

The volunteer role Description: 

  • Volunteers will be helping children with their English, Math, Social Studies and/or Science homework.  
  • Volunteers are required to have academic knowledge of English, Math, Social Studies and/or Science. 
  • When: Every Thursday from 5:30PM to 7:00PM.  
  • Time commitment: volunteers will log 2.5 hours per shift, which includes transportation time to and from the location.  
  • Starting the first week of October. The program will be running until December 2022, with a possible extension for the 2023 winter semester.  
  • Location: 872 4 Avenue SW, Calgary AB. 

Please note that the ISC Volunteer Department will contact selected Volunteer Applicants to undergo the following onboarding process:  

  • Complete an Application Form and Intake Interview.  
  • Complete a City of Calgary FCSS Social Inclusion Indicators (FSII) Administrative Data and Demographic Survey.  
  • Complete a Confidentiality and Responsibility Agreement.  
  • Request a Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search (free of charge).  
  • Request an Intervention Check for working with children (free of charge).
