Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) is honoured to highlight Josephine Reinhardt’s volunteer work and her commitment to creating a supportive environment for newcomers and seniors.

Born and raised in Calgary, Josephine was inspired to volunteer with ISC by her passion for supporting newcomers, learning about different cultures, and giving back to her community.

Josephine teaches Life in Canada, a class for seniors that helps participants build confidence, learn about their community, and feel supported as they settle into Canada. She finds her students’ curiosity, enthusiasm, and sense of humour especially rewarding.

“My students are one of the best parts of volunteering with ISC. They are incredibly eager to learn, and they make me smile and laugh every class.”

Volunteering with ISC has also helped Josephine grow. Teaching for the first time, she has gained valuable skills and confidence, and she plans to continue volunteering while contributing to ISC’s work of supporting newcomers in Calgary.

Josephine is pursuing a degree in Policy Studies at Mount Royal University, where she studies public policy, including immigration. She hopes to study law in the future, and her academic interests closely align with her volunteer work at ISC.

Josephine encourages others to get involved, describing ISC as a welcoming, well-run organization where volunteers can make a meaningful difference while learning from the people they serve.
