Lisa Clarke

As General Counsel for Innovate Calgary, Lisa is responsible for managing legal affairs by providing legal advice and services, liaising with outside counsel, and minimizing liability exposure by recommending and implementing appropriate policies, practices, and procedures. She advises on a range of legal, operational, and strategic issues, with a focus on intellectual property, technology-based commercial transactions, and startup companies.

Before joining Innovate Calgary, Lisa was Director, Senior Legal Counsel at Shaw Communications Inc. (Shaw) and prior to Shaw, she was Legal Counsel at ENMAX Corporation and an Associate Lawyer at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP.

Lisa has worked and volunteered at other immigrant serving organizations including United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (Croatia), United Nations Association in Canada (Calgary), Refugee Advice Centre (Finland) and Association for New Canadians (St. John’s). She has an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School, an LL.M. from the University of Helsinki, and a Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam.
