Shikha Bharadwaj - Volunteer of the Month for June 2021
Shikha stated volunteering with Immigrant Services Calgary in July of 2020 and was volunteering with our CLARC language assessment center as of September 2020. She volunteered over 100 hours in only 3 months! Shikha is no longer volunteering with ISC, but her experiences volunteering with us helped to get her a new job, and we are very proud of her accomplishments. She said this about her experience with volunteering with ISC, volunteering at Immigration Services Calgary was an enriching and remarkable experience. It was an honour to help immigrants and refugees in their settlement journey in Canada. As an immigrant myself, I had a better understanding of how immigrants could face problems comprehending the language or just the general procedures, hence, I made sure to take special note of those who had difficulties communicating and helped them out at a pace that was easier for them to understand. This opportunity allowed me to hone my skills in communication and problem-solving thereby assisting me to successfully transition into my role with Canada Revenue Agency
Quote from Norgaby – “She has excellent soft skills, was very reliable and possessed outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills.”
Thank you so much for all your contributions to our agency, Shikha! We couldn’t assist newcomers without dedicated people like you!
