Sahra Ali: Volunteer of the Month for June 2026

Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) is proud to recognize Sahra for her dedication to supporting newcomers in Calgary.

Originally from Hargeisa, Somaliland, Sahra moved to Canada in 2012. She brings experience in healthcare, administration, interpretation, and client service, along with a strong commitment to helping newcomers feel supported as they settle into a new community.

Sahra studied Business Administration at Admas University and has continued to build her skills in Canada through training in accounting, administrative support, and medical office assistance. She also provides interpretation and translation support in community settings.

At ISC’s front desk, Sahra welcomes newcomers, shares information, and helps clients navigate services with confidence.

“Volunteering at ISC means giving back to the community that once supported me and helping newcomers feel welcomed, informed, and encouraged.”

Volunteering at ISC is especially meaningful to Sahra because ISC helped her when she first arrived in Canada. Today, she gives back to the community that welcomed and assisted her.

Before coming to Canada, Sahra supported community outreach initiatives focused on youth empowerment, human rights, gender equality, and life skills development. Her long-standing commitment to service continues to shape the care she brings to her volunteer role today.

Thank you, Sahra, for your dedication and support of newcomers in our community.
