Uliana Ipekci – Volunteer of the Month for August 2025

This month, we proudly recognize Uliana Ipekci as Immigrant Services Calgary’s Volunteer of the Month. Originally from Ukraine, Uliana moved to Canada in 2022 and quickly became an active community member, offering her skills, empathy, and dedication to support newcomers.

Fluent in Ukrainian, Turkish, English, and Russian, Uliana has a remarkable ability to bridge language gaps, ensuring clients feel understood and empowered. She first connected with ISC through community referrals and word-of-mouth, later participating in our language assessment, job search support, and child services programs. Her firsthand experience as a newcomer inspired her to give back through volunteering.

I am passionate about helping newcomers navigate their new lives in Canada, especially regarding language access. Volunteering allows me to support people during critical moments while giving back to a community that has supported me,” Uliana shares.

With a strong professional background in translation, interpretation, and administrative work and two university degrees in translation and linguistics, Uliana brings expertise and professionalism to her volunteer role. Her work as a professional interpreter with the ITC team has had a lasting impact on clients and colleagues.

“Uliana Ipekci reminds us that true impact begins with dedication, compassion, and a willingness to serve. Her time and effort make a lasting difference in our community, and we are proud to have her as part of our team,” says Jesa Andrea Pinlac, Account Representative, ITC.

“Uliana stands out as a professional, team-oriented volunteer who is always willing to help. Her smile and ready-to-support attitude brighten my Fridays!” adds Muji Oladejo, Account Representative.

Uliana plans to continue volunteering, finding joy in building connections, gaining Canadian work experience, and contributing to an inclusive, welcoming environment for all.

We thank Uliana for her remarkable service and for inspiring others to get involved. Her story is a reminder that volunteering is not only about giving—it’s also about growing, connecting, and making a lasting difference.
