Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC), in collaboration with London Drugs, proudly hosted the third WelcomeWell community event, the first ever held at the ISC Gateway Building, on December 9, 2025. This event strengthens our shared commitment to helping newcomers access safe, clear, and welcoming healthcare support as they settle in Calgary.

At WelcomeWell, newcomer families had the opportunity to:

• Join a live Q&A with pharmacists
• Receive a personalized introduction to London Drugs healthcare and pharmacy services
• Learn about managing medications safely and effectively in Canada
• Take home a complimentary WelcomeWell gift bag with essential health resources and information

The session focused on building confidence in everyday healthcare needs, including how pharmacists can support medication reviews, explain the differences between over-the-counter and prescription options, and help manage multiple medications for chronic or short-term conditions.

As our CEO, Kate Price, shared:

“Newcomers often face certain challenges around health care and language barriers, access to family doctors, navigating a very complex and often unfamiliar system. So this event is a great way to make health care access more available to them.”

By hosting WelcomeWell at ISC, the event provided a comfortable and culturally responsive space where families could ask questions openly, engage directly with pharmacists, and learn about accessible healthcare pathways available close to home.

London Drugs pharmacists also highlighted how pharmacist-led care can help address minor health concerns, reduce pressure on urgent care centres, and connect individuals with preventative services such as vaccinations.

Through community partnerships like WelcomeWell, ISC, and London Drugs, we, the organizations, continue to work together to support newcomer families with the information, tools, and confidence they need to navigate Canada’s healthcare system.
