Aito Ueno – Volunteer of the Month for December 2022 – Immigrant Services Calgary

Aito Ueno – Volunteer of the Month for December 2022

Aito Ueno joined Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) as a volunteer in 2008. She has dedicated over 78 volunteer hours to supporting different departments, including translation and interpretation, administration, and client-facing teams. She was also a part of the volunteer team involved in supporting the Immigrants of Distinction Awards event this year. Aito has demonstrated great administrative skills alongside professional communication skills when interacting with ISC’s staff and clients. It has been a pleasure having her on the ISC team all these years, and we wish her the very best in her new career path as she starts a new job. We are very grateful to Aito for her valuable support and contributions to ISC and our clients! This is her story:

"I have known ISC for more than 20 years and have been volunteering as a translator with ISC for over a decade. Recently, I’ve been involved in other volunteer roles too.

My motivation to start volunteering was to pay forward all the kindness and support which I had received as an ISC client.

The best part of volunteering here is that I meet very nice, interesting people. If I didn't volunteer, I wouldn’t have had the chance to meet them. Connecting with others makes me feel good and enriches my life.

I would like to continue volunteering here because being a part of ISC is engraved in my life!”

“Aito was a great volunteer, she was punctual and dedicated. She was a great delight to have around the office. She was so enthusiastic and always had a positive attitude. I really enjoyed working with her and wish her well in her future occupation.”
