Please join us in congratulating Sheema Ahmed for being nominated as Immigrant Services Calgary’s Volunteer of the month for January 2021!

Sheema smiles at the camera in a selfieSheema Ahmed is a volunteer in the Early Learning Across Cultures program. She is currently attending University of Calgary in an undergraduate degree in Law, but she always finds time to volunteer. Sheema came to Canada as a young girl from Lahore, Pakistan. She has been dedicated to accomplishing many things in Calgary, and gets involved with other immigrants.

She has participated in planning meetings and shares great ideas. She leads craft activities and break out rooms in our Zoom classroom. She keeps the children involved and engaged. She worked before with the Homework Club ISC, Calgary Zoo, and the Reading Club ISC. Sheema is well liked by the students and often they greet her with a smile and questions in Zoom class.  Children were drawn to her lovable and calm personality.

Sheema was willing to talk to the parent group about her studies at University and lead a parent workshop on Charter Rights and how to watch for Fraud in these tough times. This was a true dedication of her going above and beyond her duties.

"We have truly enjoyed having Sheema as part of our teaching staff with the Early Learning Across Cultures program. Keep up the hard work and good things will come to Sheema, we are certain.”

Darlene MacLeod, Early Childhood Program Team Lead and Facilitator
