Dhanashree Yogesh Gosavi has been volunteering with Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) since October 2022, and according to her supervisors, her enthusiasm and dedication are “remarkable.”
After completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Bombay, Dhanashree immigrated to Canada in 2017, and became aware of ISC as she was adjusting to life in Calgary.
“It gave me abundance of knowledge about schools, day cares, education facilities and government agencies for the basic settlement,” she said.
“I continued attending various workshops to increase my skills and knowledge. It inspired me to volunteer with ISC and gave me an opportunity to learn and grow by building my confidence.”
Currently supporting the CLARC and Client Care teams, Dhanashree has completed over 30 hours of volunteer work with ISC and continues to be very committed to supporting the organization.
She says volunteering has allowed her to strengthen her English, connect with clients from different countries, and support her community in a positive way.
“It makes me feel happy,” Dhanashree said.
“Dhanashree exhibits excellent communication skills and a welcoming attitude while supporting clients during their English assessment appointments, making it a warm and comfortable environment for them. We would like to thank Dhanashree for all the efforts and the initiatives she is offering to support ISC staff and the newcomers!”
