Barry Sinclair
Barry’s career is focused on assisting organizations in establishing solid foundations for continued and accelerated growth. He has 20 years of experience across all levels and forms of professional service firms, and organizations in both start-up and transitional stages. He is equally comfortable in helping an organization prepare and scale, as he is reorganizing and maintaining.
Barry commenced his career in Dublin, Ireland during the Celtic Tiger economic boom. This presented opportunities to work with some of the largest IT companies in the world (Oracle, Informix, IBM), as well as regional IT start-ups on the cutting edge of technology. In these roles Barry was exposed to all elements of Finance, including international expansion and shared services models. In 2006, Barry immigrated to Calgary, and following a brief stint in the Energy Industry, returned to Professional services working with IT, Fin-Tech and Recruitment firms. Barry has served on the boards of the Calgary Chieftains, the Western Canadian County Board, which promoted traditional Irish sports in Western Canada as affiliates of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA, Ireland). He is a former Director of the CanLearn Society, who provide programs and services to adults, children and families with learning challenges.
Barry has a Bachelor of Business Studies from Dublin City University (Ireland), is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accounts (FCCA, Ireland) and a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA, CGA). Barry is currently the Director of Finance for Borden Ladner Gervais LLP’s Calgary Region. BLG is Canada’s Law Firm. He is also CFO of start-up My Take Home Chef, a personal chef service provider founded by his wife, Michelle Sinclair.
