Rafael is originally from Colombia and lived in France before moving to Calgary in May 2023 with his pregnant wife and their two-year-old son. Fluent in Spanish, English, French, German, and Portuguese, Rafael has been a dedicated volunteer with Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC), assisting numerous Spanish-speaking newcomers with their tax returns.

Rafael first learned about ISC through volunteer networks and pre-arrival services webinars. His commitment to giving back to the community is evident in his willingness to support others, always with a kind and welcoming demeanor. Despite balancing a full-time job and family responsibilities, Rafael remains deeply committed to helping newcomers, a cause he is genuinely passionate about.

Before coming to Canada, Rafael earned an MBA from the Tec of Monterrey in Mexico and a BSc in Electronics Engineering from Los Andes University in Colombia. He worked as a Technical Account Manager in Paris, France, gaining valuable experience in the cybersecurity software industry.
